Chapter 1 Overture

By the time Heather Rose Bane observed the passing of her 19th wedding anniversary, she had had 1 dog, 1 daughter, 2 sons, 2 houses, 3 cats and about 10 affairs. She says “about” in her own mind because she was not really sure of the actual count. ... Unlike men who exaggerate the number of their sexual conquests, women always under count the number of sex partners by 75%. So if Heather said when pressed for a count that she had been with only 3 men sexually she really meant she had had sexual intercourse with 12 men. As she said later “after the first few or so what’s the point of counting?”

Chapter 5: The Office Apartment

She watched the city — the stone and glass and signage of buildings, the sparser late morning throng of people on the sidewalks, the automobiles on either side — pass by the taxi’s windows like a repetitive and unresolvable rhythmic modernist melody. Could anyone have noticed her — a lone woman in a cab — and have intuited that at this pre-lunch hour moment she must be an aroused woman enroute to a tryst?
Even as her vagina moistened in anticipation of her journey’s end, her chest roiled with guilt and apprehension. What if someone she and Jacob knew noticed them together on the street and inferred that an illicit sexual act between them was imminent?

She looked at her face in the mirror. Now that she no longer wore glasses but had contacts instead, she thought herself prettier. When she made the switch to contacts months ago even Jacob told her that she looked more attractive without the glasses. Studying her reflection with little scrutiny she decided that she was pretty enough today for her tryst with a new man. Yes it was too late to worry about her looks just now because she was about to have an erotic afternoon of sex with a new man who wanted her, and he would be arriving very soon.

In the world beyond this hotel room, Heather is a plain girl, rarely known as Rose or more often as Mrs. Heather Bane. She is always the church treasurer and a board member. She is a former grade school teacher, a former waitress and a former accountant. But right now she is Heather the Goddess of Fertility as the reflection of her naked pregnant self in the mirror shows and this room is her temple. Yes she is the Goddess flanked by her two naked male acolytes who seek to worship her and pleasure her with the stroking of their hands. She stands facing the mirror with her hands resting atop her head. She sees her larger pregnancy breasts wobble as the men’s hands traverse her body.

The Neon Orange String Bikini

7:40: Rose pulls back the bed clothes and throws off the white robe. She asks the two men to pull the strings of her orange bikini. Werner pulls at her top string and Robaire pulls at her bottom’s string dangling on her hip joint. The two piece bikini falls away suddenly as if in one motion. Rose stands there naked letting the two men who were also doctors examine her with their eyes. Sensing that their time was limited she turns and crawls up on to the bed. Her breasts dangle below her and her butt, xxxx and xxxxx are visible to both men. She positions herself on her back in the center of the bed and perpendicular to its length. When she is certain both men are looking at her she spreads her legs wide and raises her knees in anticipation of receiving her first lover.

About the Author

My name is V. F. Hathor and this is my first novel. I hate all my photos so I am reluctant to post any of myself. That is why there is no photo on this bio and there never will be.

I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the eldest daughter of second generation American parents —a Korean mom and a middle eastern dad. Whoa, that was a crazy combo! Both were Catholic, religiously so, and totally assimilated. Consequently they had little attachment to their ancestral roots.

Since Hathor is the name of the ancient Egyptian Earth Goddess, I suspect my father’s roots are in Egypt. But who knows? I am sure knowing that the family name might also be the name of an ancient pagan goddess

would be abhorrent to my dad. We never really talked about these things. Our family dinner discussions consisted entirely about doing chores and getting good grades and Father Wade’s sermon at last Sunday’s mass at Ascension Church

Oak Park being my hometown, I went to Oak Park High which is the same high school attended by that old white guy with guns who loved to hunt animals in Africa…what was his name? Oh yeah Hemingway. He was an alcoholic exotic animal killer, but he was nevertheless an impressive writer! So I am glad to share the same Alma Mater with him.

As I said this is my first novel. I have lived alone and worked at home as a legal document transcriber. So I think I have had lots of time developing my erotic imagination. I wanted to write about a marginally attractive woman and her search for an erotic connection in her life. Although there are bits of real people and events in this novel, from which the novel’s erotic garden has grown, it remains mostly fiction in case any of you might think otherwise.

For me this book was like planting that vintage seed you found in the memory books stored in your attic and now the forest that grew from that seed and stands before you is nothing like you ever imagined.
